Margaret Smith is a pianist and composer studying for a double master’s degree at Oklahoma City University. Smith has been featured as a soloist with various ensembles including playing Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto no. 2 with the OCU Symphony Orchestra and Rhapsody in Blue with the OKC Saxophone Ensemble. Margaret received a bachelor’s degree in piano performance in 2025 from OCU under the instruction of Dr. Sergio Monteiro. Margaret has performed in masterclasses for artists such as Natasha Kislenko, Benjamin Loeb, Park Sook-Ryeon, and many more. Margaret studied piano pedagogy with Dr. Heejin Jang and is passionate about growth oriented teaching. Margaret uses the eclectic music reading approach combining intervallic, multi-key, and landmark methods. Along with a strong emphasis on notational literacy, Margaret also utilizes rote teaching, Kodály philosophy, and movement based teaching to develop fully rounded students.
